This week we were shooting our upcoming 2014 Special for McCall’s Quilting, called Scrap Quilts. I love doing our specials because often they can be shot in any seasonal setting, allowing us to be able to use the beautiful green grass and flowers available to us now in Colorado.
I knew I would need several bouquets of flowers for our shots on Wednesday but hated to spend too much money. Magazine props can get expensive. So I went to the grocery store and bought a spring bouquet for $9.99 and brought it home to see how I might be able to stretch this and fill five vases. Here’s how it went.
I have a very small yard but have some terrific shrubs that have various colors of green which look pretty in arrangements. I went out to my yard and took clippings from some of these shrubs and laid them out on my kitchen island. When gathering the cuttings, I realized that those shrubs needed to be pruned in the worst way……maybe next weekend!
